Itinerary

Day 01
Arrive at Kathmandu (1300m) Tribhuvan International airport to be met by our staff and transfer to hotel. Check in and relax. Over night at Hotel

Day 02
After breakfast, sightseeing tour of Pashupatinath, Boudhanath & Kathmandu Durbar Square. Afternoon briefing on Kailas trip and rest of the day at leisure. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 03
After an early breakfast, pick up from hotel & drive to Kodari (114 km) the border between Nepal and Tibet on the famous Araniko highway. After completion of immigration and custom formalities we proceed to Zhangmu (Tibet) (8 km) and then onwards to Nyalam (34 km). Our first night in China will be at a modest lodge with basic facilities.

Day 04
Rest and acclimatize at Nyalam with an excursion to Milarepa’s Cave and also to get a look of Nyalam and the Tibetan landscape. Overnight at Guest house.

Day 05
We drive to Saga via the Lalungla Pass, Paiku Tso Lake and cross the Brahmaputra River (known here as the Yarlung Tsangpo). Overnight at camp.

Distance: 232 km Duration: 8 hrs Height: 4580 m

Day 06
Another long drive to Paryang. Lunch will be light packed snacks. Overnight at camp.

Distance: 252 km Duration: 9 hrs Height: 4610 m

Day 07
Another scenic drive to Lake Manasarovar. Overnight at Guest House.

Distance: 255 km Duration: 9 hrs Height: 4560 m

Day 08
Puja / holy dip at the Lake followed by Manasarovar Parikrama in Land cruiser. Time permitting visits Chiu Gompa. Then drive to Darchen. Overnight at Guest House.

Distance: 40 km Duration: 2 hrs Height: 4520 m

Day 09
After breakfast, we drive to Tarboche (3 kms / 4750m) the first prostration point, Tarboche Flag Pole, the auspicious gateway and the sky burial ground, to Diraphuk. We have a hard day’s hike to Diraphuk (4890m). Overnight Camp from where you have superb views of Mt. Kailash.

Distance: 18 km (Tarboche to Diraphuk) Duration: 7 hr Height: 4890 m

Day 10
Continue Parikrama over Drolma-la Pass (5610m) to Zutrulphuk. Just below the Drolma-la Pass is the Gauri Kund. Overnight at Camp.

Distance: 22 kms Duration: 9 hrs Height: 4790 - 5650 m

Day 11
Our last day on the Parikarma of Mount Kailas. Crosses third and fourth prostration point, Zutrulphuk and trek back approximately 8 kms to near Darchen where our vehicles will be waiting for us. From there we drive back to Darchen (5 km), to have lunch. After lunch, we will proceed at a leisurely speed to Lake Manasarovar. While our Sherpa staff makes camp / dinner, you are at your leisure to visit the lake and pay homage.

Day 12
The start of our return trip back to Kathmandu driving up towards Mayumla Pass, we get last views of the Majestic mountain and lake and bid adieus to this sacred land, and continue onwards to Paryang. Overnight at guest house or camp.

Day 13
We continue our drive back to Saga with a light pack lunch on the way. Overnight at guest house or camp.

Day 14
A long drive to Nyalam and our first chance to have a hot shower, after a long and arduous pilgrimage. We will overnight in a guesthouse.

Day 15
After breakfast, we clear immigrations and customs and bid farewell to Tibet – and continue onwards to Kathmandu via Kodari. End of tour.

Day 16
After breakfast, transfer to airport for your flight back home. End of tour.
