Pleasure Trip to Kathmandu Valley

This trip is for first time visitors who want to explore the ancient culture of the Himalayan Kingdom. It will take you to the ancient temples and religious places which were built while the world was still immersed in barbaric conflict. The mystic temples and wood carved palaces will make you wonder how the artisans built the buildings, and how they left an indelible influence on architectural style of Tibet and China. This trip will certainly give you the cause to pack your bags and visit the mystic Kingdom once again.

Itinerary

Trip Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival Kathmandu

In Kathmandu, you will be received at the airport and transferred to your hotel. After a briefing by your tour leader and an overview about the whole program, you will join for a meal in one of the better restaurants in the city.


Days 02: Patan

Today you will visit the ancient city of Patan. Patan lies southeast of Kathmandu at a distance of 8 km. This city was once an independent Newar Kingdom and is renowned for its supreme traditional crafts and rich artistic heritage. The city of Patan is encircled by 4 Stupas built by emperor Ashoka of India about 2,250 years ago. The main attraction of Patan is its Durbar Square. The square holds many temples and a giant palace which has been converted into a museum. You will visit the Durbar Square, the Krishna temple, the Kumbheswore temple and the Golden temple.

In the afternoon you will visit Khokana which is a typical Newari village. This visit will give you an insight to the traditional Newari lifestyle. You return to your hotel for rest after the visit to Khokana. (BLD)


Days 03: Bhaktapur


Today, you will be driven to the east of Kathmandu towards the ancient city of Bhaktapur. The Bhaktapur Durbar Square is a perfect place to experience the glory days of the kingdom of Bhaktapur. The entrance to the Durbar Square is through a golden gate which is decorated by carvings dedicated to various Hindu Gods. Bhaktapur has myriad medieval monuments like the Nyatapola, which is a five storey temple. You will return to Kathmandu in the evening.(B)

In the afternoon you will visit Changu Narayan Temple, this temple was built during the 4th century AD. Its rich cultural heritage has made it synonymous to being an open-air museum.

After visiting Changu Narayan, you will drive for about 45 minutes through terraced paddy fields, pine grooves and narrow roads to Nagarkot. On a clear day you can see the panoramic view of the Himalayan range from there. Overnight at Nagarkot. (BLD)


Days 04: Kathmandu


After breakfast you will enjoy the beauty of the Himalayan range view from Nagarkot. You can even rise early in the morning to watch the sunrise. Then you will be driven back to Kathmandu. You will take a Kathmandu city tour which will cover the Durbar Square, glimpse of the living goddess Kumari, Nautale Durbar, the Kaal Bhairav, the Swet Bhairav and the Freak Street. In the afternoon you will visit The Swayambhunath Stupa: the 2000 year old Buddhist monument atop a hillock. (BLD)


Days 05: Pashupatinath/Bouddhanath and Swayambhunath


Today you will have a half day of sightseeing. First you will visit the Boudhanath Stupa. The Buddhist site is revered by the Vajrayana sect of Buddhism. The Stupa is colossal and beautiful. There is an air of spirituality about it and at that moment you will feel the magnanimity of Buddhist culture. All around the stupa there are shops selling Buddhist artifacts. These shops are mostly run by Tibetan refugees. You will then be driven to the temple of Pashupati Nath. This temple is considered the holiest of all temples in Nepal and is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Situated at the banks of the river Bagmati, pilgrims and sages flock the temple. Last rites are performed on the premises of this temple and from afar you can even see a Hindu last-rite being performed. Swayambhunath is the most ancient and enigmatic of the Valley’s holy shrines the golden-spired stupa of Swayambhunath tops a wooded hillock. Records of its history date as far as the 5th century, but its origins are believed to be older.


In the evening you are free to explore the ancient city and pick up memento of your trip to take back home. (BLD)

Leisure day or free day in Kathmandu.


Days 07: Departure


Today you will be transferred to the airport by our representative for your onward flight to your  destination. (B, L-depending on the flight timing)
