This is a much more relaxed trek but it still becomes wonderful due to the spectacular view it offers of the Everest and the other snow peaks. The scenery all along the way is absolutely fabulous and you will feel serenity captivating your spirits and while your feet maybe weary at times your eyes wont.
Day 01 Kathmandu, Nepal
On your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be received at the airport and transferred to your Hotel. Once all the members of your group arrive, you will be given a small briefing. This will give you an entire overview about the entire trip and also about how to get the best out of this trip. This also includes practical information about the trip in Nepal. You will need to bring with you your passport, all tour vouchers and a copy of your insurance policy to this briefing so that your tour leader can obtain important details that are essential to the running of the tour.
While you are in Kathmandu, you will be able to see all its charm in full glory. It is a beautiful city with an exciting harmony of the old and the new. This city has a wonderful history that dates back to almost 2500 years back
Day 02 Kathmandu
Today you will be invited to visit Bouddha Nath and Swayambhunath Stupas, held holy by both the Buddhists and the Hindus equally. The sightseeing will continue till the evening. You will also be able to visit the famous Durbar Square which was the hub for hippies in the early 70’s. Today there is a wonderful museum that might amuse you (B)
Day 03 Phakding
You will be transferred to the airport for the flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. The flight is considered one of the most exciting flights in the world. From the aircraft the spectacular view of the snow line of the Himalayan range will leave you spellbound. The flight will take about 1 hour. After landing at the Lukla airstrip (2,800 mt) you will head north-west. The trail starts at the distant end of the village and steadily moves downward to Chapling (8,767 ft). The trail offers you a breathtaking view of the Dudh Koshi River in the valley below and also the village of Chaunrikarka several hundred feet below. From Chapling, the trail further descends to Ghat. Finally with a series of climbing and descending you reach Phakding. (2,652 mt). This trek will take about 3 hours (BLD)
Day 04 Monjo
A little beyond Phakding we will find river which we will have to cross and then move up the valley towards the north. The trail runs parallel to the river valley and has been creased with blue pine and a rather dense rhododendron forest that is very fabulous during the spring time when the flowers are in full blossom. We will have to cross the Dudh Kosi at a place called Benkar where there are enticing views of Kusum Kanguru (6369m) and the Thamserku peak (6623m). Monjo (2835m) stands at a short distance from here and we will arrive here at lunch time. We will be spending the night at Monjo. This trekking will take us about 3½ hours (BLD)
Day 05 Namche Bazaar
The trek to Namche is quite a steep climb. It is a short walk first right until we reach the National Park as we cross the Dudh Kosi. The trail then moves up on a flat land, and crosses towards right bank right at the convergence of the Bhote Kosi and Dudh Kosi rivers Soon we will be crossing the river on a lofty suspension bridge you leave Solu District to enter Khumbu of which Namche Bazar is the largest village and the administrative center. The trail from the bridge gets steeper. At the middle point up the hill, the views of Everest (29,028ft/8,850m) and Lhotse (27,916ft/8,511m) come into sight. The trail then continues steeply through a forest a reaches a tea house which could act as a resting spot. Diverge right from the tea house to reach Namche Bazaar (BLD)
Day 06 Namche
At Namche, there is a police outpost, a post office and a bank that offers a money exchange facility. If it is a Saturday, you will witness a weekly bazaar that is held at this day of the week. The merchandise exhibited here includes granules and vegetables, sports shoes as well as well manufactured Tibetan boots. Thamserku (6,648m) and Kwangde (6,224m) are visible to the east and west, and Khumbila (5,707m), the mountain held sacred by the locals governs the skyline to the north at the rear end the village (BLD)
Day 07 Tengboche
The trail falls eastwards from Khumjung as you pass across exquisite chortens. The picturesque Ama Dablam (6,696m) is visible from here, and Kangtaiga (6,779m), edged by the soaring stature of Sagarmatha (the Nepalese name for Everest) is bound to leave you breathless. You descend through a moss-covered rhododendron forest and cross the Dudh Khosi at Phungithanga and ascend on a forested ridge, until you reach the site of Tengboche and the main monastery of the Khumbu area. Tengboche (3860 mt) lies at the base of Kangtaiga and this ridge affords panoramic views of the major peaks of Khumbu including Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam. This trek will take us about 6 hours (BLD)
Day 08 Shanasa
We will use the morning to visit the Tengboche monastery and museum next to it. This is supposed to have been built by Lama Sange Dorjee in the 17th century. It was destroyed by an earthquake and by fire simultaneously but it was later restored.
Visiting the museum requires an entrance free.
After lunch we will retrace our steps and move downhill across the beautiful forests of rhododendron and juniper and reach Phunkitenga.
We have to then cross the Dudh Kosi, and climb abruptly to Trashinga. From here the path curves tall on top of the vale to Shanasa where we will be spending the night. Today's trek will take us approximately 3 hours (BLD)
Day 09 Monjo
This day, you will have to turn south off the main trail to Khunde and Khumjung, contouring past the Everest View Hotel. These villages are worth a visit. Khumjung has a stunning monastery and after a short visit to this monastery we will return to Namche. The walk moves past the Everest View Hotel and also the Shyanboche airfield just before falling into Namche where we will stop for lunch.
After lunch we keep on descending then follow the trail along the river bank towards Jorsale and then further move towards Monjo where we halt for the night. This trek will take us 5 hours (BLD)
Day 10 Lukla
We will have to retrace our steps right next to the Dudh Kosi, and then cross to the west bank at Benkar. It is moderate and easy walk across blue pine and rhododendron forest. At the back-drop there are excellent views of the Kusum Kangaru.
We will soon reach Phakding where we will stop for lunch. In the afternoon we will climb away from the river valley and right back to the Lukla airstrip. This walk will take us 5 hours (BLD)
Day 11 Kathmandu
Today we have to get up early in the morning to catch our flight back to Kathmandu. Once we reach Kathmandu we will transfer to our hotel (B)
Day 12 Kathmandu
You will have a full free day to see Kathmandu. You can see this multicolored city and also go for some shopping. Thamel is a wonderful place to be in where you will get a lot of Nepal made products (B)
