
This trip shows you exactly how diverse Nepal really is. If you are besotted with the need to see places, you will be captivated by the Nepalese aptitude for integrating its ancient culture and yet embrace the modern for while we ramble across the streets of a modern Kathmandu, the spirit of the ancient still reign supreme in the rural portions of the country. We trek around the village of Ghandruk where there are wonderful views of the Himalayan peaks from every curve and bend all along the trail. We ease of the most traversed trails on this journey walking and exploring and end up in the jungle of Chitwan for an exciting wildlife safari.
Day 1: Kathmandu
Once you arrive in Kathmandu, you will be picked up from the airport and transferred to your hotel. In the afternoon you will be given a briefing by your tour leader. You will be given an overview about the whole program. If you have any questions about this trip this is the right time to ask. In the evening the tour leader might arrange for a welcome meal in one of the better restaurants in the city.
Days 2: Kathmandu
We will take a guided tour of Kathmandu in the morning. A visit to the Boudhanath Stupa is a must. The Buddhist site belongs to the Vajrayana sect of Buddhism but is revered by all. After Boudhanath, we head to the Hindu temple of Pashupati Nath. Pashupati simple means “Lord of the Beasts”. This temple is considered the holiest of all temples in Nepal and is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Pashupati Nath is Shiva in good mood. Last rites are performed on the premises of this temple and from afar you can even see a Hindu last-rites being performed. Swayambhunath is the most ancient and enigmatic of the Valley’s holy shrines the golden-spired stupa of Swayambhunath tops a wooded hillock. Records of its history date as far as the 5th century, but its origins are believed to be older. Then we head to the Kathmandu Durbar Square. Kathmandu Durbar Square is the number one tourist attraction swarms with life. Though a few of the square’s 50-plus monuments date from the 12th century, most are from the time of the Malla Kings. Probably the most famous building here is the Kumari Bahal, a building richly decorated with beautiful woodcarvings, which is home to the Royal Kumari, the Living Goddess, a manifestation of the great goddess Durga.
Day 3: Birethanti (1060m)
We will catch a flight to Pokhara in the morning. The flight to Pokhara takes about 30 minutes. There are absolutely astounding views of the mountains during this flight. If the day is clear you can see the Ganesh Himal and the Manaslu. Once we reach Pokhara we will take our lunch and move to the starting point of our trek. The walk will be easy as we move downwards towards the Modi River. We will halt overnight in the lodge nearby. There are splendid views of the Machhapuchhare from here (BLD)
Day 4: Ghandruk (1950m)
We will move out of the lodge and start climbing on a trail that takes you across terraced fields and out of the Modi Khola valley. The view of the peaks or the Annapurna South and the Machhapuchhare soon start unraveling themselves at a distance. We will stop for lunch near Chane. After lunch, we will take a trail which has been well paved with stones flags and as we pass through fields, we reach the village of Ghandruk. Ghandruk is a small yet beautiful village that is situated at a height of 1950m. We will halt overnight in Ghandruk. Today's trek will take us 5 hours (BLD)
Day 5: Ghandruk
The morning is a great time to see the mountains. The weather is usually clear in the morning and you can see the Annapurna, Hiunchuli and Gangapurna closely. After breakfast we will take a guided tour of the village and the countryside nearby. There are hills covered with rhododendron forests and the views all around are splendid (BLD)
Day 6: Majhgaun
Today's trek will be for 5 hours and our destination is the village of Majhgaun. We leave the lodge behind and walk towards the Modi River. The descent will be across terraced fields and the road is defined with stone steps. In a while we reach the village of Lamakhet. This village will be our stop for lunch. The after lunch hiking session will comprise of up hill climbs that will take us to the village of Majhgaun, situated at a height of 1450m. The village offers us astounding views of the Annapurna South and the Hiunchuli (BLD)
Day 7: Pokhara (850m)
The morning is filled with dazzling views of the Himalayas, from this village. After breakfast we will head for the village of Lumle. We will catch our transport from this village and make a one hour drive to Pokhara. Pokhara is a serene lake side town, with amazing places to visit and interesting things to see. The views of the Annapurna massif and especially the Machhapuchhare never leave you. While you are here, you can take a boat ride across the moss green water of the Fewa Lake. You can also ramble across the market place which has a lot of beautiful items for sale. You could also visit the Devil's fall here (BL)
Day 8: Pokhara
Set in a serene location with absolutely minimal pollution Pokhara is adorned all around with colossal peaks of the Annapurna range. All tourist find safe haven here as they seem to be away from the noise of the city and since Pokhara is the starting point of some of the most exclusive treks in the world, tourists flock this beautiful town.
You can either relax by the pool or go for boating on the Fewa Lake. Either way, Pokhara is an ideal place of relaxation (B)
Day 9: Chitwan National Park
This day, we head for the Chitwan National Park. The drive to the park will take us about 5 hours. Once you reach Chitwan, you will be transferred to your lodge. The Chitwan National Park provides shelter to various species of birds and animals. They find refuge in this vast jungle, where only occasional tourists come to have a peek into the wild side of Nepal. The park was established in 1973 and is set in an area of 932 sq. km. There are more than 43 species of mammals, over 450 species of birds, and more than 45 species of amphibians and reptiles in this reserve. You can find the Chital, Sambar, Hog Deer, Barking deer, wild elephant, four horned antelope, striped hyena, pangolin, Gangetic dolphin, monitor lizard, python, sloth deer, common leopard, ratel, palm civet, wild dog, langur and rhesus monkeys. You can also find endangered animals like the one horned rhinoceros, the Tiger, Gharial.
In the afternoon we will make an excursion to a neighboring village. The village is inhabited by the Tharu community where you might see a Tharu cultural dance program (BLD)
Day 10: Chitwan National Park
In the morning today we will make an elephant safari. This way we can move to various parts of the Jungle without any hindrances. You can closely watch the one horned rhino and other wonderful animals. We will later take a dug out canoe across the Rapti River. The river is home to Crocodiles but they do not attack humans unless provoked (BLD)
Day 11: Kathmandu
We will take one final jungle safari on a jeep; this time. This is our last chance to get close to the wild. After we return to our lodge, we will drive straightaway for 5 hours and reach Kathmandu. In Kathmandu, the rest of the day will be free. You can take a walk around Thamel, which is the hub for tourists and you can buy any item that is on sale here (B)
Day 12: Kathmandu
The tour ends here. You will be transferred to the airport for Departure (B)
